American Pride

(Do you LOVE Pinterest as much as I do?  That is where I found this great quote!)

Last weekend the Airshow was in town.  The jets flew by for several days practicing for it and the flight pattern is over our house, so Lindsay and I watched the Thunderbirds (we totally "get" where their name came from!) from the backyard each afternoon.   That was as close as Lindsay wanted to be!
Anna, on the other hand, wanted to see the show close up!  Scott got in for free since he has his airplane in a hangar over at the Redding airport.
Scott, Anna, Grandma and Papa spent the whole afternoon at the airshow on Saturday while I stayed at home. Scott was going back to the show on Sunday after church with his Dad, so I decided to go along while Lindsay went to Grandma's and Anna was over at Chloe's house.
 It was an amazing show!
Brad and Austin came to watch too!
Something about seeing those powerful jets flying in formation with patriotic music playing in the background just absolutely brings tears to your eyes.  I felt so PROUD to be an American and so THANKFUL for the military and their families for making America such a GREAT country.
I was so glad I went!

God BLESS the USA!!

My Wish for the Birthday Girl

I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow,
And each road leads you where you want to go,
And if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.

And if one door opens to another door closed,
I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window,
If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile,
But more than anything, more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.
I hope you never look back, but you never forget,
All the ones who love you, in the place you left,
I hope you always forgive, and you never regret,
And you help somebody every chance you get,
Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake,
And you always give more than you take.
But more than anything, more than anything,

My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you,
Ans wants the same thing too,
 Yeah, this, is my wish.

Shae, I can hardly believe that you have been ours for 19 years.  What a joyful day it was when that bald headed beauty emerged onto the scene of our lives!
You have grown into a beautiful young woman from the inside out,  We could not be more proud of you!
You have been such a joyful and  fun part of our family,
You are always willing to give things a try,
You appreciate the little things, and the little people :)
As you venture on into adulthood, I pray that you will hold fast to the things you have been taught,
and seek God's best in  every single decision!
You are truly a gift that I feel I could never deserve and my love for you is indescribable!

I wish you the happiest of birthdays and I wish I was there to cook your dinner!

I love love love you!
(p.s.  I am so sorry for making you sport that mullet for so long...but, really, look at MY hair, how could I know any better?!)

Delicious Autumn

I don't know if it is the over 100 degree temperatures or not, but. I had to just about force myself to decorate for Fall.  Weird.  Fall is my VERY favorite season, and this year my decorations are just, eh.  I hope I am out of the slump by Christmas.
One of the BEST gifts I have ever received is my "Luff" pumpkin, given to me by my adorable, crafty friend, Nikki in our annual Fall Swap.  She even told me how to make them! Ahhh, sharing friends are THE BEST!
My Woof 'n Poof pumpkins always make me happy.  Not to mention, the company is located just down the road from us, it's in Chico, California.   Gotta support those local businesses, right!?
My mantle is a work in progress....
Hello, new Woof 'n Poof owl!  Redding peeps, hurry up and go to "Sugar Plum Cottage" and check out their adorable Fall line!
I have every.single. Susan Branch cookbook that has ever been printed. I am serious.  I use her wall calendar every year in my kitchen too.  Her pictures are just so happy and precious and her products make me feel all "homemaker-y".
I am loving this table I got from my Mom a little bit more every day.  It is pretty scratched up but I feel like that just adds to it's charm.

These two and I have spent a lot of time together lately while Scott has been at camp.  Lindsay usually snubs Anna and me in the mornings because she is SO into Scott but, one morning she was all about giving Anna a "have a good day hug and kiss".  We'll take it when we can get it, right Anna?
